Collingwood's Santa Claus Parade

Saturday, November 26, 2011 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Location: Hurontario Street

Mark your calendars!  Collingwood's Santa Claus Parade moves to the evening – Saturday, November 26 at 5 p.m.

Downtown Collingwood is once again pleased to present Collingwood's Annual Santa Claus Parade.  For the first time in many years, the parade will be held in the early evening to capture all the magic of our downtown holiday lights.  Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 26, beginning at 5 p.m., and plan to join the fun!

The theme of this year’s parade is “Home for the Holidays”.  The parade will feature floats and music highlighting the joy of coming home to the warmth and magic of celebrating this special time of the year with friends and family.  This year’s parade will be part of a very special day in Downtown Collingwood as we officially launch the holiday season.  Your downtown “home” will celebrate by welcoming you into many merchant Open Houses, a Christmas Farmers’ Market and will feature special guests and activities throughout the day.   The traditional “lighting” of the town Christmas Tree at the end of Hurontario Street will end the festivities, immediately following the parade.

To help you plan your day:

Start your day at our first ever Holiday Farmers’ Market located on the main floor of the Temple
building from 10 am to 5 pm. This is a perfect opportunity to re-connect with many of your
favourite market vendors for great food and gift ideas.

Get up close and personal with Santa’s reindeer-in-training before Santa arrives for the parade.
Located in front of the town hall from 1 p.m. to 5 pm, the reindeer and their keepers will answer
your questions about Santa’s special training regime for the big night.

Later in the afternoon; from 4 pm to 5 pm, Living Christmas Windows return. Fleet-wood Dance
Centre presents the ‘Nutcracker” in the windows throughout the downtown. This unique event is
perfect for the whole family, and a great way to wander the downtown prior Santa’s arrival and
the tree lighting.

At 5 pm – the anticipation will begin as the annual Santa Clause parade makes it way north
along Hurontario Street from Fourth to First Streets. This year’s magical theme is ‘Home for the
Holidays’. The parade will feature floats and music high lighting the joys of coming home to the
warmth and magic of celebrating the special time of the year with friends and family. The
Parade will finish with the jolly old elf arriving in town in his very special sleigh... follow behind him
as he makes his way down the street towards to town’s Christmas tree.

Immediately following the parade; join Santa and Mayor Cooper as they officially light the town
Christmas tree to mark the arrival of the festive season. There is something magical in the air as
you walk back through Downtown Collingwood. You’ll be amazed by the lights above the
street, the three dimensional sleigh and reindeer and so much more – there is nothing like
coming ‘Home for the Holidays’.
